Image of Queen Elizabeth II: Our Tributes

09/09/22: The children (and staff) came together this afternoon for a very special assembly within which, we reflected on Queen Elizabeth II's reign, celebrated her life as Britain's longest serving monarch and paid our sincere respects by falling silent to conclude the assembly.

The children also observed the national gun salute at 1pm, where they saw 96 shots fired- one for each year of the Queen's life.

As well as this, we have opened a book of condolence in our school library where all pupils and staff will be invited to offer their messages, reflections and thoughts. Year 6 started this process today and we are so incredibly proud of how maturely and respectfully they reflected and offered their heartfelt messages.

Upon completion, the book will be sent to The Royal Family, on behalf of the Fairfield community.

14/09/22: The children have continued to sign our book of condolence this week following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

This morning, our youngest learners from Nursery walked over to our school library to add their very special pages of artwork, fingerprints and reflections.

This afternoon, from 2:22pm, many classes watched the gun carriage of the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery procession transport the Queen's body from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall.

We have been incredibly proud of each and every child for the maturity and respect they have demonstrated throughout this period of national mourning.
